Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice case and works great so far I just got my case and it is not as thick as i was expecting it. I had many other battery cases before but this one has a pretty nice design. I dont give 5 stars since i know thay can still do better on the small solar panel and try to make it more powerful, in order to charge under low light environments, like some other devices we've seen. Charging through solar panel takes definitely more than 24 hours, which i was already aware of it, but still i think they can do even way better than that. Still it is a very nice and well manufactured product. I totally recommend it !!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best product for an iPhone ever! I've had my charger/cover for almost a year and it has been amazing! ive never experienced overheating of my phone when using it. Only time the phone was warm was when I plugged the case in while phone was in it (not how it's designed to work) and even then it charged the phone. Extends the battery of an iPhone at least by double! I travel a lot and it's a great feeling knowing I don't have to worry about finding a plug for well over 16 hours(it gives over a full battery charge to your phone before needing a recharge of its own). Even better if I'm road-tripping and use the solar feature by placing the case on the dash. Sorry for the length, but I've also dropped my phone a few times and the case has saved it (and survived itself). Can't say enough about how much I love it!!

So far it never let me have a drained battery, even when on the lonely trek.The only thing that annoyed me is that the top portion of the case is kind of lose.... So I have to modify it so it won't break off so easyly.Thank you guys

Is this case protective too or just really cool charger

The Surfr for iPhone 5 can easily be removed from your phone. Simply slide the top section of the Surfr off your phone, then slide your phone out of the remainder of the Surfr case.

Not documented or shown.... does the case accept a lightening cable for charging both devices simultaneously?

I found it is documented, and the device uses micro USB. While I do have both at my desk, I still find this to be combersom solution.  The whole point of owning an apple product is a simple interface and ease of ownership. This undoes that.

My i5 got to 10% today. I sat the brand new enerplex in the direct 95• sun for 4 hrs. Did not do squat to help charge the phone. Showed one blue bar light and never added value. Why?

Thanks for your inquiry! The solar panel on the Surfr is largely meant for emergency situations, as due to its compact size, it can take anywhere from 24-34 sunlight hours to charge the Surfr's internal battery from 0 - 100%. A few hours in the sun can give you enough power for a few minutes of talk time (or enough time to make an emergency phone call).To get the best performance out of the solar panel, place it in direct sunlight (not through a window) and angle it toward the sun. The first LED on the series of 5 LEDs at the bottom of the case will illuminate red when the Surfr is being charged via solar.
